There are two ways for a firm to get credits without buying them: a gift code from Tax Optimiser, and rewards for referring another firm. Both add ordinary credits to your balance, and like bought credits they do not expire.
Redeem a gift code
- Open Firm Settings and choose Credits.
- Under Redeem a code, type or paste the code. It is 16 letters and numbers, shown in four groups of four; the dashes are optional and capitals do not matter.
- Click Redeem.
The credits are added straight away and appear in Purchase history as Gift credits at £0.00. A code is for one use by one firm.
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| That doesn’t look like a valid code | The code is the wrong length. Check for a missing or extra character. |
| Unknown code | No such code. Codes never contain the letters I, L or O or the digits 0 or 1, so a character that looks like one of those is something else. |
| This code has already been redeemed | It has been used, by your firm or another. |
| This code has been cancelled | Tax Optimiser withdrew it. Ask whoever gave it to you. |
Your referral code
If Tax Optimiser has given your firm a referral code, the Credits page has a Your referral code card. If you would like one, ask support.
- Code and Share link: give either to another accountant. The link opens the firm sign-up page with the code filled in; Copy puts it on your clipboard.
- Per signup: the credits the new firm receives and the credits you receive each time.
- Expires and Signups: the last day the code can be used, and how many firms have used it. Some codes have a maximum number of uses.
How a referral works
- The new firm signs up with your link, or types your code into the sign-up form.
- As soon as its account is created, it receives its welcome credits and you receive your reward credits.
- Your reward appears in your Purchase history as Referral credits, and the Signups count goes up.
A firm can be referred once, when it signs up. An existing firm cannot enter a referral code later, and a firm cannot use its own.
